Volunteer Opportunities

Nursery Team

Nursery Assistant: Assists Infant & Toddler Teacher in providing loving care and modeling spiritual principles for children ages 0-3. Helps parents to sign children in and out of class and works with the Lead Teacher in maintaining cleanliness and organization in our nursery.

Elementary Team

Elementary Teacher: Works as part of a team to provide experiential lessons demonstrating Unity principles for children ages 4-10. Models Christ-centered attitudes and behaviors and creates an active, fun learning environment. Lesson Plans based on Association of Unity Churches curriculum are provided by the Youth & Family Ministry Director, who also provides necessary supplies. Teachers also greet parents, assist them in signing children in and out of class and help with tidying up classrooms after Sunday School. This position requires a time commitment of 2 Sundays per month. Training is provided.

This position has a variable schedule, usually 1-2 Sundays per month. Training is provided.

Teen Team

Uniteens Sponsor: Facilitates Sunday classes, special events and service opportunities for pre-teens/teens ages 11-13. Models Unity spiritual principles and considerate behavior and encourages youth in self-exploration. Lesson plans, based on the Association of Unity Churches curriculum, and supplies are provided by the Teen Ministry Coordinator.  Sponsors also greet parents and teens and assist teens in classroom clean-up after Sunday lessons. This position requires a time commitment of 2 Sundays per month. Training is provided.

Y.O.U. Sponsor: Facilitates Sunday classes, special events and service opportunities for teens ages 14-18. Helps organize teens’ participation in regional and national Unity Y.O.U. events. Models Unity spiritual principles and considerate behavior and encourages youth in self-exploration. Lesson plans, based on the Association of Unity Churches curriculum, and supplies are provided by the Teen Ministry Coordinator.  Sponsors also greet parents and teens and assist teens in classroom clean-up after Sunday lessons. This position requires a time commitment of 2 Sundays per month. Training is provided.

Super Saturdays Team

Super Saturday Sponsor: Organizes a family activity for a Youth & Family Ministry Super Saturday (3rd Saturday of each month). Duties will include choosing the activity (a trip to the zoo or state fair, swim party, family date day etc…), gathering necessary information, assisting Y&FM Director in producing promotional materials, procuring any needed supplies and overseeing your chosen event. This position is perfect for volunteers with limited time, as you pick a Saturday that works with your schedule and do your planning and preparation from home.

Holiday Team

Holiday Sponsor: Chooses a holiday and works with a team to decorate our Youth Education Wing and plan special activities for our children and teens. Informs Y&FM Director of supply needs and special event information and helps to clean-up and store supplies for next year’s event.

Photography Team

Photographer: Helps to take pictures of our children and families enjoying Sunday lessons and special events. The church supplies a digital camera. The pictures you create will be used to share our joy in our newsletter, on our website, on Rev. Steve’s Sunday morning Power Point presentation and in a commemorative Y&FM Photo Yearbook each year.

Bulletin Board Team

Bulletin Board Crafter: Creates and implements designs for our Youth & Family Ministry Bulletin Board in the hallway outside of the sanctuary. Consults with Y&FM Director regarding themes and supply needs and stores materials from the previous bulletin board for possible future use. This position works well for volunteers with limited time, as you pick a month that you would like to create the bulletin board and may complete it at any time the church is open.

Volunteers working directly with children will be required to undergo a confidential background check.
