OUR COMPASSIONATE COMPANION The Normal and Necessary Journey of Grief and Healing
With Rev. Steve Colladay
3 Wednesdays: September 15, 22, 29
6:30 to 8:00 pm Love Offering
We all have experienced loss in our lives, and when a loved one makes their transition, we can find it extremely difficult to understand what is really a necessary spiritual journey of grief and healing. This 3-part series September 15, 22 and 29 is based on the best-selling Understanding Your Grief: Ten Essential Touchstones for Finding Hope and Healing in Your Heart by Alan Wolfelt, Ph.D. (Available in our Unity Bookstore).
From a spiritual perspective, Rev. Steve will facilitate an exploration of Dr. Wolfelt’s ten touchstones that are necessary actions for healing physically, emotionally, cognitively, socially and spiritually:
1. Open to the presence of your loss.
2. Dispel misconceptions about grief.
3. Embrace the uniqueness of your grief.
4. Explore your feelings of loss.
5. Recognize you are not crazy.
6. Understand the six needs of mourning.
7. Nurture yourself.
8. Reach out for help.
9. Seek reconciliation, not resolution.
10. Appreciate your transformation.

12 Spiritual Abilities to Change Your Life
5th Annual FAITH IN ACTION Fall Program
October 3 – November 7, 2010
Faith, strength, wisdom, love, power, imagination, understanding, will, order, zeal, elimination, life—these innate spiritual abilities have the power to change your life. Our 5th annual Faith in Action Program, Discover Your God-Given Potential, explores how to use these powers to create the life you were born to live, relationships of the powers to areas of the body and to Jesus' 12 disciples, and seven steps for mastering each power.
To recognize and develop these qualities, you can study and observe them, relate to their presence in your physical body, and heighten them through prayer and practice. Consciously applying these powers will raise your level of awareness and life experience. As you awaken your divine endowment, you are literally calling forth the positive, powerful current of the unlimited God-idea within you.
Unity on Greenville's 5th annual Faith in Action fall program is a 6-week focus on the inner work of spiritual transformation. Just as the leaves change color and fall from the trees, we too release and let go of old and useless patterns in our consciousness, making room for new growth. This is a time of shedding the outer, moving into the powerful inner work of consciousness as we join together in living the Spirit of God.
Our program theme is based on Unity’s classic 12 Powers of Humankind developed by Unity Co-Founder Charles Fillmore. Our text for our Sunday Celebration Services and weekly Spiritual Circles is Discover Your God-Given Potential: 12 Spiritual Abilities to Change Your Life.” (Available in our Bookstore for $3.00.) These lively discussion groups will meet for weekly for 6 weeks in individual homes (some will meet at the church) to discuss insights from 12 Powers and share ideas, and support one another. These groups are a wonderful way to deepen your connection with your Unity community! The sign up for these Spiritual Circles begins September 12th.
